Royals celebrate Mother’s Day with pictures

The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared heart-warming family photos on social media to celebrate Mother’s Day.

William and Kate shared two images with their children on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk last year.

A group photo – taken by photographer Matt Porteous – shows Kate surrounded by George, Charlotte and Louis as they perch up in a tree.

The second portrait shows Kate cradling Louis in her arms as she grins down at him. He can be seen sweetly holding onto his mum’s hand as she plays with him.

The royals captioned the pictures saying: “Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours.”

It came as King Charles remembered the late Queen on the first Mother’s Day since her death.

A poignant message celebrating all mothers was also posted by the official royal family account, alongside treasured images showing King Charles as a beaming baby standing on the late Queen’s lap and an adult Camilla smiling as she stands behind her elderly mother.

The Twitter post was accompanied by the message: “To all mothers everywhere, and to those who may be missing their mums today, we are thinking of you and wishing you a special #MothersDay.”

The Queen died in September aged 96.

Camilla’s mother Rosalind Shand died in 1994 at the age of 72 after a long battle with osteoporosis.
