Welcome to SIU, the UK’s Multi Trade Body for Security. SIU is a membership-based organisation that represents security professionals, protects their rights at work, and provides advice, support, representation, and a bespoke group of member benefits that aren’t available to the general public.

We are incredibly proud of protecting the protectors who are working relentlessly in the backbone of the United Kingdom’s infrastructure and around the Globe. Pre-2009, the security workers did not have the dedicated support and services they deserved, and we decided to change that for good.

SIU was founded in 2009, and we are now celebrating its 14th anniversary. Being a privately funded organization, SIU could attract private security and public sector personnel at the onset of its operations. We ensured our member benefits were versatile and relevant to all our membership base and we never stopped reviewing and enhancing them. SIU is independent and free to pursue the best opportunities for its members.

We contribute to the security industry with our free core membership option which provides unique benefits to industry professionals, our magazine The Lone Worker which includes various articles, news from the industry, continuous professional development modules, and exclusive pieces devoted to security professionals and medics, and our Security Industry News website where we track current affairs and set the agenda for the industry.
