ADS published a Security and Resilience sector outlook to mark day one (14 March) of Security and Policing, the official UK Government global security event.
The outlook showcases the depth and breadth of the UK Security and Resilience sector which provides advanced physical and digital capabilities underpinning prosperity and securing UK advantage against a range of malicious and non-malicious threats.
The publication highlights that in 2022, the UK Security and Resilience sector’s contribution to the UK was £23 billion in turnover; £9.5 billion in exports; £12.8 billion in value added; and 145,000 direct employees (including 5,800 apprentices).
As well as capturing the security and resilience sector’s important contributions to the United Kingdom, the outlook identifies new business opportunities for 2023 which include: transport security, opportunities in border security, the mitigation of small arms proliferation, as well as cyber security.
The outlook also explores the changing policy landscape, and how the passing of legislation such as Martyn’s Law in 2023 will revolutionise the protective security market in the UK, especially for high-capacity locations.
In addition, the Integrated Review Refresh, announced Monday 13 March provides the sector with an important opportunity to refine the UK’s strategic approach, considering the war in Ukraine and consequent impacts on economic security and national resilience.
The outlook highlights how ADS will continue to secure UK advantage, by working with industry partners, Government, and other stakeholders to represent the views of members and ensure the security and resilience sector remains a key strategic focus for the UK.
