Swindon emergency worker assaulted as police swarm bus

A man has been arrested after an emergency worker was allegedly assaulted and a police officer harmed as police cars swarmed a Swindon bus.

Police originally responded to an incident on a bus at the County Road roundabout in the town at around 10.40am on Friday, July 21.

Onlookers claimed that around eight emergency vehicles were at the scene with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust confirming a double-crewed land ambulance was present.

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of breaching section four of the Public Order Act, assault occasioning actual bodily harm of a police officer and assaulting an emergency worker.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed that he remains in custody for questioning.
