Optimal Risk Group introduced some of the trainers of Masterclass 23

Some of the trainers who will be delivering Masterclass ’23 Physical Security Protection in an Age of Technology, were introduced by Optimal Risk Group.

Due to start on 15 May, the 5-day course aims to teach security professionals the latest strategies for protection against various threats.

Richard Huison, Dr Samantha Newbery, and Andrew Donaldson are among the trainers of the Masterclass 23, who are some of the most established figures in the industry. 

Richard Huison, Regional Manager for UK and Europe at Gallagher, started his career as a defence contractor developing cutting-edge encryption solutions to protect the most sensitive of infrastructure. He then progressed to a Commercial Diver role, working in some of the UK’s most challenging places. For the past 20 years, Richard has specialised in the technology side of security, promoting some of the strongest brands, and solving unique business problems in a diverse range of verticals.

Dr Samantha Newbery, Intelligence Analyst and Trainer at Optimal Risk Training, is an academic specialising in counter-terrorism and intelligence. With a PhD from Trinity College Dublin, she has delivered guest lectures at institutions such as Defence Academy of the United Kingdom and the Norwegian Defence Intelligence School. Her publications are many and include the book “Why Spy? The Art of Intelligence” co-authored with Brian T.W. Stewart CMG, a former Deputy Chief of MI6, as well as the forthcoming book “Terrorist Informers in Northern Ireland”. For more than ten years she has taught security professionals studying for Masters degrees by distance learning.

Andrew Donaldson, Head of Security at Real Estate Management (UK) Limited, is a Chartered Security Professional responsible for security policy, strategy and crisis management at some of London’s most iconic buildings, including The Shard. He is a fellow of the Security Institute and Co-Chair of their Counter Terrorism Special Interest Group. Andrew’s background is in international counter terrorism, including a distinguished career in counter terrorism policing and the Ministry of Defence.
