Awards from The Security Institute found their winners

The Security Institute’s Annual General Meeting and Gala Awards Dinner were held on 18 April at Carisbrooke Hall, Victory Services Club, London.

The night started out with the Military Wives Choirs’ performance and the awards that encourage and recognise excellence in security industry were presented to their winners.

Nick Aldworth, the winner of The Security Institute Award In Memory of ‘Odette Hallowes’ together with Brendan Cox, commented on his award: “There will never be a circumstance when my name deserves to be connected to someone like Odette, but I am beyond grateful for the kindness that comes with such recognition.

“I have not experienced a fraction of the trauma experienced by Figen and Brendan but have still found the Martyns Law campaign to be a bit overwhelming at times.

“It’s not easy pursuing change but the support and kindness of people has kept me (and us) going and tonight was a big boost.”

He added: “This award is for all of you who have given the campaign a voice and who have said the right thing, just when it was needed.”

Daniel Pike, UK Divisional Security Lead who won President’s Award for an Outstanding Young Professional, commented on his win on LinkedIn: “Humbled to receive the president’s award for an outstanding young professional at The Security Institute gala awards.

“7 awards in 3 years can only be achieved by working with great teams, clients and mentors, thank you to all of you and the companies I have worked for, for their support over the years: Wilson James, Corps Security, Carlisle Support Services, Pilgrims Risk Management Group, Merseyside Police.

“I look forward to the next chapter with NG Bailey and to becoming a chartered security professional and joining The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals.”

Corps Security, Corps Together won The EDI Initiative of the Year Award.

Another award winner was Mike Bluestone, executive director of Corps Consult who became the first ever recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mike Bullock, Chief Executive of Corps Security commented on the win of Mike Bluestone: “I am so very pleased that Mike has been recognised for his quite extraordinary commitment to the security industry.

“His list of achievements is almost endless, and his breadth of knowledge unparalleled but what I think sets Mike apart is his absolute determination to help and support others in so many ways, always with words of encouragement and positivity, even in the most pressured of circumstances.

“He is the epitome of professionalism, exuding calmness and integrity and someone I personally seek out for his wise counsel that frankly, only a fool would ignore! A truly worthy inaugural recipient of this award.”
